You create such magical vids - this was so beautiful. Gah, I wish I had more understanding of vids, or at least the words to describe them, because I want to try to detail the effect it had on me, but I'm all tongue-tied. I loved it though.
I'm floored by the awesomeness of your video. I recently watched all three seasons of Supernatural. I loved how you picked some obvious moments and some extremely subtle ones. Uh, it was beautiful.
I downloaded the first version of this. I think the changes you made make your themes and "meaning" clearer for the most part.
My favorite parts: "breathing the air alive" - very lovely.
"Beautiful seas mirroring sky / beautiful sky" - that moment literally gave me chills. It was beautiful and laden with meaning on so many levels. Just gorgeous.
You darkened some of the footage in this version, such as the section "millions of years come down to a point in time" (1:31 - 1:42). I think, thematically, I got why you darkened these parts and others like it, but because your coloring is so rich, bright and textured, it was actually a bit distracting to have these darker areas. It's not that they were dark so much as smudgy and muddy looking by comparison. If that's what you intended, you accomplished it. If not, maybe something else in the future would better convey what you were trying to get across there.
Also, I would caution you about getting too reliant on certain clips and "stock footage". I think I've watched all of your Supernatural vids. Often, they bring something entirely new to the fandom, visually, if only because your style is so unique, so strongly yours, and you have a unique and perceptive way of interpreting songs and visuals together. On the other hand, you use a lot of the same clips over and over. I would caution you against getting too complacent here. You have a lot of imagination and talent as a vidder; letting yourself get too comfortable with a style and with the repeated use of certain scenes might not challenge you enough, nor let your talents grow and develop more.
Hey, maybe you're not so worried about that. Some people are way into vidding and pushing themselves. Others are more casual about it. It's just food for thought.
Thank you so much -- for your criticism and for your kind words. :) I will admit that the darkened parts have no intended meaning behind them -- I just didn't think to brighten them enough to match the rest of the video.
Well I downloaded this when you first put it up but I've not had time to feedback until now.
As always, it's beautiful, and I'm aware I'm always saying the same thing over and over again, but it's true. I always download all of your vids as soon as they're up, and I'm not sure I do that for any other vidder, certainly not for a long while anyway, and that was back when i used to watch a lot of SG vids.
Wow, your clips are really just so well chosen, and although it's not a song I'm familiar with, it jsut fits so well with the theme of your vid here, and the whole melancholy atmosphere - perfect. Your editing, as always, is spot on, and that ending killed me, so perfect. I am, as always, in awe =) I think it's time I mentioned on my LJ how fantastic your videos are and poked anyone who hasn't seen them yet to check them out right now =)
Thank you - for all your videos, just... thank you =)
Okay, fangirling over =P Please don't forget to submit this one so I can add it to your page (http://the-impala.co.uk/editors/093) =)
Hi there. Sadly, I bookmarked this to download when I could manage the bandwidth, but it looks like I was far too slow. Does it still exist anywhere? I adore Eliza Gilkyson, and would love to see it. (If no longer available, no worries. :)
Can you, please, upload the clip in the previous version? Of cause, If it is not too much trouble for you. Because I also was too slow and haven't downloaded it. I like your clips very much and I don't want to miss this one in normal quality.
