Between "I'm Yours", "We Will Rock You" and "Make This Go on Forever", I will automatically a) squee and b) download anything you've made and c) squee more.
Will get back to you with more constructive criticism later, after I've downloaded and watched.
Ok . . . that was just beautiful. I nearly cried by the end of it. At first I wasn't sure about the continued use of similar scenes and images, but then I "got" it and I loved it. I liked how the vid was "simple" yet powerful. You kept the focus tight and your choice of clips was very strong.
Oh, just lovely, lovely, and lovely. This vid pretty much captures everything I love about the boy's relationship: glances in which they say so much with very little, the way they are constantly communicating without words. The points where they just reach each other without having to physcially move or say anything.
Great vid.
Psssst. Would you mind very much uploading the song? The song was so haunting and I'm a sucker for Death Cab.
This is great. You turned the interior of the impala into a totally unreal space. By just glimpsing all these scenes, and moving back and forth in time, the vid elegantly expresses the "On a road trip with my brother" as gigantic metaphor. Really quiet and poignant, and as they're sitting side by side it seems like half their communication/relationship is shared in glances and smiles whilst the other half is just watching one another. Fabulous stuff.
What a wonderful vid, this expressed all the love the boys share for each other by the smallest of look or smile - just brilliant, thanks for sharing :)
This was gorgeous. The music set a certain tone, gave this vid a sort of dreamlike quality. It made me feel like when they're in the Impala, they're in another world, their own private world. Something that exists "in between"--between hunts, between towns, between realities, even, when there's only the road ahead and behind them, the sky wide above them and that might very well be all there is. Light and dark coming and going, and the one thing grounding them is each other, the glances and smiles they share bridging every gap between them and saying everything that words can't. Saying it still even when only one of them is looking, because those careful gazes become tangible then and the other feels them even while trying not to.
Oh my. Cold chills, and tears. This is inspired, and perfectly executed. How quiet, how simple, and how deeply, richly textured is this tapestry of all the times we've seen them driving, together, and the memories each of those clips recall. I'm deeply affected. Thank you.
Oh wow. I've had this bookmarked a few days, waiting to find a minute to give it a watch, but I was slightly hesitant about it, because Passenger Seat is such a slow, gentle song, and I can be impatient with music like that sometimes, especially in vids. I shouldn't have been hesitant though, because that was brilliant. My attention didn't slip for a second.
Which I find even more impressive given your choice in clips. If you'd asked me if someone could make a vid using just clips of two people sitting next to each other and have it hold my attention for more than two and a half minutes, I'd have guessed 'no', but oh man, your editing was just stunning. You really brought out the full weight of their more subtle interactions. I actually think that the fact there wasn't any more active movements in the vid allowed their smaller movements to be much more prominent and powerful. That, coupled with your timing to the music, gave every head motion or shift in facial expression my focus in a much more intense way than it would have normally.
Their long drives have always been something that kind of fascinated me. I mean, they spend hours and hours together in the car all the time, but we never get to see more than a few minutes of it. It sort of struck me as a huge chunk of their lives we're kind of cut off from in canon (which is understandable - seeing their journeys in real time would not make for action packed television - but...), the road is such a large part of their lives, and such a small part of what we actually see. I've never really felt the stretch of their journeys like I did when I watched this vid.
I guess when watching canon I'm used to seeing the dramatic side of their love for one another take most of the focus, but this vid really reminds you that the strength of their bond comes from the companionship they've had in each other their entire lives. There is a sense of being allowed in on something intimate in watching this vid, like moments snatched from the long hours between hunts which are usually hidden from us. I mean, technically it's not footage I haven't seen before, but it feels new, because I'm looking at it in such a different way. It's not "Are there going to be any important plot points discussed in this scene?" it's "Here are Sam and Dean next to each other, watching over each other, just being together". The connection of just being quietly present with each other. The silent communication of eye contact and facial expression.
I agree so much about the bitch-jerk exchange being Winchester for 'I love you'. I had such an Ah-ha! moment when that first occurred to me. They mostly use it when Sam's said something which has got to Dean emotionally, and Dean can't bring himself to say something 'girly', but wants to respond and let Sam know how he feels. And it makes the exchange from the Pilot so interesting in retrospect, because IIRC that's the only time Sam has initiated the exchange, and it's a case of Sam wanting to have a moment with Dean and Dean not letting him express his feelings overtly, but Sam doesn't give up on telling Dean what he feels, he just changes tack and goes about it in a way Dean can accept instead. It made that scene from WIAWSNB one of the most heartbreaking in the episode, too. I like getting to 'eavesdrop' on their private methods of communication, and watching this vid feels like that all the way through, because the depth of their feeling for each other is painfully obvious in their looks and smiles here, but it's not necessarily what I would notice watching those scenes in canon.
Oh, and the moment right after the bitch-jerk exchange in this vid, where you've slowed down Sam's smile to match that drawn out last note on the piano, is one of my favourite moments in the vid. <3 Of course, now that I've mentioned that, I have no choice but to mention some of the other parts I really liked (I'll try and restrain myself though, because I've already been rambling at you kind of a lot xD). I didn't notice first time around, but I like how as the lyrics start you have the camera moving from the front of the car toward the back of the car, then cut to a scene where it moves from the back to the front, and then from the front backwards again, the echoing motion is such a nice touch. And I'm not entirely sure why, but I just adore the repeated motion of Sam turning his head and smiling at 2:01 - 2:05. It makes me want to smish him. Also, the section from 0:43 - 0:46, where Dean looks down on the note and away on the next, and then Sam looks down and then away on the next pair of notes? *hands* That is so cool. *admires your timing some more*
Annnd I'm going to stop myself there, before I start listing every time they make eye-contact. ;)
I cannot even put into words how much I adore you. Thank you so much. :) I loved, loved reading your thoughts. I'm glad it felt new, and was able to hold your attention. I was so worried it might not!
I've always thought it's fantastic how much those two can convey just through a look, and you have captured this so well with this video. Yeat another fantastic piece of work from you - I always look forward to seeing new stuff from you, and that feeling just increases with every vid you make - so thank you =)
Please don't forget to submit this one so I can add it to your page (http://the-impala.co.uk/editors/093) - thank you =) x
I have to admit that when this started I couldn't see how it would work. And then I started to be lulled by the music and the rhythm of the motion of the car and the boys' smiles at each other, and wow, I just fell in love with this. So soft and beautiful, and the perfect choice of song. I'm so glad you made this!
wow, 2:47 mins of pure impala moments ^^ What can be better? :) Very nice video, i really liked this silent dialogues between brothers. And the song choice? Very good =) I think this video is really really sad, especially now, when Dean is in hell, and there can be no passanger seat. I mean, now Sam drives the Impala, and he`s totally alone *sobs* As it was said before, first i wasn`t sure about the clip choice, cause all the scenes are pretty similar. But then i really got the idea and i really liked it. And "Bitch-Jerk" moment...aaaaawwwww ^^
